Branding is the process that involves creating a unique name and image for a certain product – this will make it easily recognisable to the consumer as it will be stuck in their mind (BusinessDictionary.com. N.p). A brand is a promise to a consumer as it tells them what to expect from your product. It will differentiate it from other products that may be similar (Entrepreneur Staff. 2017). In today’s global market, you need to stand out from your competitors because there are millions of similar organisations, you really need to think about your entire customer’s experience. Everything holds importance from your website, logo and social media.

It is important to explore already established brands to see why they have been so successful. One company that has increased dramatically is Starbucks, which has been praised and acknowledged for its brilliance in branding and marketing, and creating a brand experience that doesn’t just bring in new clients but it satisfies all existing customers. Starbucks opened its first coffee shop in Seattle’s Pike Place Market and since then the company have increased substantially. As of June 2015 it had expanded to a massive  22,519 total stores, within 50 different countries around the world (“Starbucks Company Timeline”).  As a brand, Starbucks appeal to almost everyone as they have plenty of customer products from fresh food, hot drinks and cold drinks. One reason for their huge success is due to their loyalty to customers and connections with long term relationship farmers all over the world. Thriving to provide the highest quality coffee that customers expect from their services (Starbucks Company Profile.)

The purpose of corporate logos is to display the company’s unique identity through the colours fonts, and images. It is the ‘face’ of the company (Gillikin). Despite the fact Starbucks have continually changed and redesigned their logo, they haven’t lost their core image. By sticking to the same eye catching green colour scheme it has provided consistency and contributes to brand recognition, which fuels customer loyalty.

What is a USP?
A unique selling point (USP) is a factor that differentiates a product from its competitor, there are so many products that are similar to competitors so its important you can sell it to yourself before you sell it to others (Entrepreneur Staff, 2017).It’s crucial to think about your USP’s so you can stand out from the crowd. What is the one reason that an employer should hire you above all other candidates? The media industry is very competitive so its important to differentiate yourself giving clear prospects on your skills and company to give your brand strong consideration (Neil Kokemuller, 2017).

Below, I have created a mind map expanding on my skills and usp’s. A mind map is a graphical way to represent ideas. It is a visual thinking tool that helps with generating information, allowing you to better analyze and generate new ideas. It avoids dull, linear thinking, improving your creativity as to why it holds many benefits  (Litemind. 2017).
